Almost a hundred people participated with their horses, and carriages in this meeting which had La Cala beach as its destination

The day finally arrived, after a cancellation due to bad weather, the horse lovers enjoyed a nice day, and the VI Horse Riding Route took place along the beach, although with strong waves and wind. Last Saturday at 10 am, the participants were already grouped in the area of "Finca El Ahogadero". The riders' group and carriages made several stops along the way, crossing the area of "Cerros del Águila". Then, at La Cala, they made another stop to regroup, and all rode together to the beach.

The event was organised by the "Peña Caballista" from Mijas in collaboration with the Mijas Town Hall. According to the Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, José Carlos Martín (Cs), "this is a wonderful morning, especially seeing this horses' show enjoying and riding along the Mijas beaches. This is an added incentive, another tourist attraction as many visitors can see the horses' beauty on the beach".

On La Cala beach, horses and riders enjoyed a unique experience by the sea. Arancha López (Cs), Councillor for Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Fishing, stated that "there was a lot of participation. There are mainly Mijas horses and other nearby municipalities that also found it a wonderful activity to come and enjoy this special day”.

The Mayor, Josele González (PSOE), did not want to miss this event. "With so many horse lovers in our municipality, this activity was a success. Mijas riders are a reference not only within the municipality but also outside. From the Town Hall, we will always support such initiatives to make it easy to celebrate these horse riding routes," said the Councillor.

At the end of the meeting, the participants enjoyed a fellowship day in Los Olivos Park, where they shared paella and a good afternoon. The next "Peña Caballista" date will be the 30th of April, when the "Ruta por la Sierra de Mijas" on the Mijas Mountain Range Route will be held, a classic for this group. The "Peña Caballista" President, Juan López Ayala, recalled the benefits of horse riding. "Riding a horse is wonderful. It clears the mind, and you have a great time, but on the beach, it is something impressive!  There are many places in the mountains, beautiful countryside, but what we have here in Mijas beach is wonderful. This is a privilege.
