New artists confirmed for the Cala Mijas

The Chemical Brothers, Röyksopp, Bomba Estéreo and Róisín Murphy join the festival’s line-up

The line-up for the first edition of the Cala Mijas Festival, which will take place on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September, continues to take shape. This week it has added thirteen new national and international artists, and more will be added in the coming weeks. The organisers have also announced the line-up by day. With this new batch of confirmed artists, there are now 40 that will perform at La Cala. 
The kick-off on Thursday the 1st will be led by the British rock band Arctic Monkeys with an exclusive date in our country. They will be joined by pop artist, composer and producer Róisín Murphy, the indie-pop of Inhaler, the ambient electronic of Bonobo, the spirituality of Australian Chet Faker, the multifaceted Marc Rebillet, Blossoms and The Lathums. In addition, the Spanish scene will be represented by Sen Senra, the queen of trap Albany, the explosive guitars of Venturi and the sonic landscapes of Uniforms.

On Friday, 2nd September, renowned artists, from the international electronic music scene, have joined the line-up, such as The Chemical Brothers, who will join Kraftwerk and Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, who will bring to the Costa del Sol anthems such as Galvanize and Hey Boy Hey Girl. Latin music will also be present with Nathy Peluso and Bomba Estéreo, new to the line-up this week. Soulwax, the dance music side project of the masters of the decks 2manyDjs, will also be on 2nd September, as will the duo Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul. They will share the bill with Hot Chip and German band MEUTE. As far as national artists are concerned, two new names with Andalusian roots: Chico Blanco and Queralt Lahoz, who along with GAZZI, Hnos. Muñoz and Rusowsky will make up, for now, the second day of the festival.
The third day will be headlined by Liam Gallagher, by the Norwegians Röyksopp, the already confirmed James Blake and Love of Lesbian. Also joining the line-up are South African Alice Phoebe Loy and the indie-rock band León Benavente. All of them will join El Columpio Asesino, Fuel Fandango, Santa Salut and La Trinidad from Malaga on 3rd September.

One-day ticket
Another new feature is that from Friday 4th March tickets will be available by day. So, as well as buying the three-day, at a promotional price of 130 euros, until 30th March, tickets for Thursday will be available at 70 euros, and for Friday and Saturday at 60 euros each day. A festival on a grand scale
This festival has been two years in the making, and it will be held at the Sonora Mijas venue, located in La Cala. It has a surface area of 150,000 square metres and holds up the capacity of 50,000 people per day. It will have four stages and different hospitality areas.

To make this possible, 17,000 camping places will be available for the attendees in different areas, such as the Los Olivos park and the Mijas Hippodrome. The festival will also organise trips from different parts of the country and is already working with the Mijas Town Hall on creating paths and trails to facilitate mobility to the festival and set up parking areas.
