Osunilla will undergo a thorough remodelling. Mijas Town Hall has already approved a project for the complete renovation of seven streets, including Puerto de la Media Luna, Puerto de los Pescadores, Puerto de las Grajas, Puerto de los Castillejos, Puerto de la Breña and Puerto de Málaga. This is an improvement in which 2.1 million euros will be invested. It was demanded by the residents: "It is a demand that the residents had brought to us. It is an area, that has the same problems as many other streets in our municipality. That is that they have a sewage network that causes many problems and a supply network that is not the most appropriate for the service," said the First Deputy Mayor and the Mijas Town Councillor for Infrastructure and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), who recalled that Osunillas is "an area that since it was built has not had any major action.

The action will mean a substantial improvement of practically the whole area. "The project has been drawn up for nearly the entire neighbourhood, the seven streets. It is a project that can be sequenced and can be carried out street by street, but in principle, it is considered as a total project," stressed the Councillor.

 

The objective of the works

The works will replace the entire sewage network, in which rainwater and wastewater will be separate. "It will improve water evacuation". The project also includes new telecommunications networks, street lighting, water supply and improved landscaping and paving, which will be in line with the rest of the municipality, eliminating architectural barriers. "This point is essential, and we are working on it, both from this area and from the Operational Services Department in different areas of the city. Osunillas will be a more accessible and suitable area for people with reduced mobility", added the First Deputy Mayor.

The works may be out to tender, this year, once they allocate in the budget: "This is a major investment of two million euros, with a completion period of four months and, if all goes well, we are ready to be able to allocate budget items, probably not in this budget, but in successive budget amendments," said Martín, who also stressed the City Council's commitment to renovating streets. "In the last six years, we have been carrying out comprehensive renovations in the three urban centres constantly. Even though they are works that at first glance do not appear to be of such importance, in the subsoil they are because, among other issues, they fix a problem already eradicated in much of the city, thanks to these works, such as flooding," he concluded.
