The infection rate rises by almost 90 points in a single day in Mijas

  • The incidence stands at 760 and the number of positives has risen by 367 in the last week
  • The COVID rate increases in Mijas but remains more than 100 points below the provincial average

Both, the province and Andalucía exceed the barrier of 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

The new variant of the virus, Omicron, is more transmissible than Delta and is not letting up on infections, which continue to soar in the sixth wave of the pandemic. During the last 24 hours, the incidence rate in 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants has risen in Mijas from 672.2 to 760, in the province from 851.6 to 909.6 and in Andalucía from 842 to 911.3. Both, in Málaga and in the community, the threshold of 1,000 cases is close. In Mijas, during the last week, 367 infections have been registered, the total figure since the beginning of the pandemic is 8,300 and the number of cured cases is 7,386. In the region, 8,747 new positive cases have been reported, of which 1,566 are in Málaga. There are 12 deaths to be regretted in Andalucía, none of which have taken place in the province.
