The Beaches Department of the Town Hall continues to work on the maintenance and conservation of the Mijas coastline outside the summer months. According to the councillor for this area, José Carlos Martín (Cs), work is currently being carried out to paint the wood on a four-kilometre stretch of the coastal path. After completing the replacement of the railings, the department is now working on the floorboards. “We are now carrying out protective painting work on the basis of different transit areas of the coastal path. It is a special paint for the marine environment whose function is to protect the wood from all the effect that the proximity of the sea produces,” he said.
This work involves an investment by Mijas of around 6,000 euros, as a special paint is being used for this type of environment. In order to carry out the work, several sections have to be cut “because it has to be a while without being stepped on”. The work began last week and will continue for forty days.
