Tendering for the remodelling of Madreselva, Río Guadalete and Buganvilla Streets

  • If all the procedures follow their normal course, the works could begin at the beginning of 2022
  • The Councillors for Contracting, Roy Pérez, and Works and Infrastructures, José Carlos Martín, announce that the works will be put out to tender

With this action, valued at 1,017,658 euros, all the services and infrastructure in the area will be renewed, as well as the pavements

The government team is putting out to tender the complete renovation of the streets of Río Guadalete, Madreselva and Buganvillas in Las Lagunas,  and expects the works to begin early next year, once the works, which are put out to public tender for a value of 1,017,658 euros, have been awarded. Companies interested in submitting their bids have until 23 November to do so. As Roy Pérez (PSOE), Mijas Town Council's Contracting Councillor pointed out: "On the contracting platform, all interested companies will have access to the technical and administrative specifications and all the conditions to be able to apply for this tender".

Improvements in the area

Among other changes that these three roads will undergo once these works have been awarded are the renovation of all the services and the adaptation of the infrastructures to the regulations. "It is an integral remodelling with new rainwater, sewage, street lighting, supply, and telecommunications networks", explained the Councillor for Works and Infrastructures, José Carlos Martín (Cs), who added that "from the point of view of rainwater, they will be separate networks as in all the integral remodelling works that have been carried out".

These improvements will address the area's flooding problems by installing larger diameter pipes (600 and 800 mm). Martín stated that "by increasing the diameter of the pipes, the aim is to eliminate the problems that existed, above all, at the intersection with the Camino de Coín, where water accumulated".

The pavements will also be upgraded, using grey and leather coloured stone tiles and red hydraulic tiles with studs and directional tiles to improve people's accessibility. "The paving will be in line with all that is being renovated in the municipality and all architectural barriers will be eliminated, while the paving will not be single-platform, but will have curbs".

Once this work has begun, the execution period is 8 months. If all the procedures follow their normal course, the works could begin at the beginning of 2022.
