The solidarity market continues to grow

  • The solidarity tables of La Cala return in front of the Branch Offices
  • Councillor Arancha López (1st left) visited the market on Saturday

Among them, we found on Saturday Ace Shin, Donkey Dreamland and Mijas Felina.

Following the success of the past months, this fall, the solidarity tables of La Cala return in front of the Branch Offices. Entities such as Cudeca, Cáritas, the Lions Club or Age Concern participate in them. More and more animal protection associations are joining this market, offering articles of all kinds.

Among them, we found on Saturday Ace Shin, Donkey Dreamland and Mijas Felina.
“Ready to start the autumn season, here we are at the market, we have something new. We have the bamboo plates painted for us with different styles, because clearly we have to collect funds, we have to continue with our task. We have already neutered a lot of cats, but we have to continue with our work”, said Manuela Bernardo, secretary of Mijas Felina, who also made an appeal for the collaboration of the neighbours, since they need foster homes for the kittens in the cat communities. Mijas Felina is also in charge of promoting responsible animal adoption, like Domino, another group that, this week, joined the solidarity market for the first time. “What we are always looking for are people who can take in the dogs and then the dogs generally go abroad”, said Alexandra Roselldi, a Domino volunteer.

This association encourages us to collaborate with them by also participating in a golf tournament, which will take place on October 9th at the La Siesta Golf Club in Calahonda.

An initiative of the FRD

It has been a year since this market has been underway, organised by the Department for Foreigners in Mijas with the aim of helping these groups. “We are delighted that little by little more foreign groups are joining, whose main objective is that we all show our solidarity with them, since in this time of pandemic it is difficult for them to raise funds”, said the councillor for Foreigners, Arancha López (Cs), who visited the market last Saturday.  This autumn, these tables will continue. You can visit the stalls from 10 am to 2 pm on the last Wednesday and Saturday of each month.
