The Local Council of Mijas, through the Department of Cleaning, continues its work to raise awareness among citizens on recycling

The Local Council of Mijas, through the Department of Cleaning, continues its work to raise awareness among citizens on recycling. “We carry out the citizen awareness campaign so that people reuse and recycle”, said the councillor for the area, Laura Moreno (PSOE), also informing that our municipality is “the first coastal town in collecting cardboard and second in collecting packaging”.

Therefore, Moreno continued, “it is very important that we make citizens aware of the importance of recycling to have a greener planet”. Within this campaign, the council has dedicated solely and exclusively a section to raising awareness and sensitization of the population “not only at street level”, said the councillor, “but also in educational centres”.

This campaign, organised through Urbaser and Ciencia Divertida, is launched with “improvements that we are going implement through the new cleaning specifications with the renewal of 2,000 containers”, Moreno highlighted, adding that “little by little we are all being more respectful with the environment and if we also make it easier for citizens installing these containers, it will be much easier to recycle”.

As Omara Valle, a Mijas + Limpia monitor, said, these bags comply with “the three‘ r’s ’, because they are recycled, reusable and allow reducing pollution by avoiding the use of plastic in domestic tasks such as shopping”.
