The pandemic continues, which is why the Mijas Local Council continues to bet on safe outdoor events. On the morning of last Tuesday, the councillor for Festivities, Tamara Vera (PSOE), presented two events that will take place this weekend in Las Lagunas. The first will involve live music. It will be the El Callejón concert, and the second will be an urban circus.

The first of the appointments with the musical group El Callejón, will be on Friday, July 2nd, in the Andalusia park. The second will take place the next day, Saturday, July 3rd, in the María Zambrano Park, it is a family show by Circo Urbano. Both will start at the same time, at 21:30 hours.

According to the councillor, “we are going to propose these activities so that in Las Lagunas we can also have a festive movement within the utmost caution”, she also added that “from the Local Council of Mijas we ask all residents and visitors to be careful in this type of events and respect all security measures”.

The events, which will be free, will be held outdoors, will have limited capacity and will have all the health security measures in place. “If this health crisis did not exist in these weeks we would be celebrating many different festive events in our municipality, with initiatives that would see the light and that we would enjoy, such as, for example, the fairs, but it is true that summer is very long, we are optimistic and we hope that these types of activities can increase throughout the summer”.

In addition to offering this initiative as a leisure space for residents, these events are intended to serve as an economic boost for the catering industry and businesses around these parks.

To conclude, Vera commented that, “little by little, we hope to be able to increase the rhythm of activities in the municipality and that these initiatives, at the same time, may be attended by more and more people as time goes by”.
