Two lottery shops in Mijas distributed on Sunday 22nd more than 600.000 euros with the fourth prize of the Christmas Lottery. The one in Calle Los Caños in Mijas Pueblo sold 30 tickets for the 77768, to which must be added a few more from the shop in Calle Margarita, in Las Lagunas. The winners will be able to collect their tickets at the authorised banks, BBVA and CaixaBank. As it is a fourth prize, they will receive 20,000 euros per ‘décimo’ (ticket) and 200,000 euros per series. “They called us from the provincial delegation of the ‘Loterías y Apuestas del Estado’ to inform us that in our administration we had machine printed 30 tickets for this fourth prize. I think I put them in the window, although I am not sure because we have given many numbers, and so far no one has told us anything, so we guess we have sold them online”, explained the owner of the Lottery Shop Nº 4 (Mijas Pueblo), Victoria Ríos,

They also called the son of the owner of the Lottery Shop No. 2 (Las Lagunas), Carlos Moreno, “we came quickly to the shop to put up all the posters with the information, and we don’t know if it was a number that was ordered by machine or a single series that we have received, because this number is not among the one we have fixed here”. On Monday 23rd, there were many who went to their nearest lottery shop to check their tickets, to collect the refund or the ‘pedrea’ prize or to buy a new number for the ‘El Niño’ draw.

Culture presents Flamenco at La Muralla

Culture presents Flamenco at La Muralla

The Department of Culture presents a new initiative for the summer nights, Flamenco en La Muralla, which will take place on Saturday 14th September at the Municipal Auditorium Miguel González Berral from 21 hours. The activity is carried out in collaboration with the Peña Flamenca El Pitero de Mijas and the support of MacDonald Hotels & Resorts and Caja Rural. The event will bring Julián Estrada on vocals, Manuel Silveria on guitar and Richard Gutiérrez and Alberto ‘Parraguilla’ on palmas (hand-clapping). Also performing will be the flamenco group of Tatiana Cuevas, made up of Vanesa Fernández and Fabiola Santiago on vocals, Isaac Muñoz on guitar and David Moñiz on violin.

"What we intend is that the Mijeños and those who visit us can enjoy a pleasant night of flamenco, with a top flamenco singer such as Julián Estrada and also a great local artist such as Tatiana Cuevas and her group", said the Councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who presented the event together with several members of the Peña Flamenca El Pitero.

"The aim of this event is to give a bit of continuity to last year's flamenco festival, which was of incredible quality and very good; on this occasion it is not a festival as such, but the idea is to give continuity to this type of event", said the secretary of the peña, Aroa Plaza.

Collaboration

Maldonado valued the importance of public and private collaboration in this type of cultural activities. "It is expected to be an interesting night, in collaboration with the peña El Pitero, because what we want is to make Mijas a cultural reference in terms of flamenco, which is an intangible world heritage, and in Mijas there is a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of talent in this respect".

"The peña El Pitero has been in existence for three years and we are trying to do activities and things so that people participate and there is action in our town", added Plaza.

Admission to the Flamenco event at La Muralla will be free until full capacity is reached.

Postal voting for the national elections on the 23rd of July can now be applied for online

Postal voting for the national elections on the 23rd of July can now be applied for online

Voters who decide to vote by post in the general elections on July 23rd can apply for a certificate of registration on the corresponding electoral roll until July 13th (inclusive). Obtaining this certificate is an essential requirement in order to be able to cast a postal vote and can be requested online at www.correos.es or in person at any post office in Spain.

Citizens can request their vote via the Correos website (www.correos.es), without having to go to a post office in person. In this application form, which avoids having to travel, the interested party must prove their identity by means of an electronic signature, accepting the certificates of natural persons recognised by the Ministry of Industry and the electronic DNI (DNI-e) as valid identification systems.

Postal voting applications may be made at any post office in Spain. This request must be made in person by each voter, except in the case of illness or disability - accredited by official medical certification - that prevents the voter from making the request in person. In this case, it may be presented on behalf of the voter by another person authorised by notary or consular authority.

Procedure

At the time of making the request, the interested parties must prove their identity by presenting the original ID card, passport or driving licence to the post office employee. With the aim of speeding up the procedures and avoiding waiting times, the company offers the option of making an appointment in advance to apply to vote in post offices, via the app, the Correos website or the Virtual Office. To do so, voters simply select the available office that has an appointment and, finally, choose the day and time that best suits them.

Correos will deliver the applications received to the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office, who will send applicants, from July 3rd onwards, the necessary documentation so that they can vote by post. Those applying for postal voting are reminded that the documentation will be sent to the address indicated on the application form, which does not necessarily have to coincide with their usual address. The deadline for submitting postal votes is July 19th, 2023.
